A step-by-step checklist to get the most out of your video consultation: internet, symptoms, reports, medicine list and the right questions to ask your doctor.
An online doctor consultation usually lasts 10–15 minutes. A little preparation helps your doctor understand your problem quickly and give you the best advice. Use this simple checklist before your first video consultation.
1. Check your phone and internet
- Charge your phone or keep the charger nearby.
- Use Wi-Fi or a strong 4G connection. Sit near the window if the signal is weak.
- Allow camera and microphone access when the browser asks.
- Earphones help you hear the doctor clearly and keep the conversation private.
2. Choose a quiet, well-lit place
Sit facing a light source so the doctor can see you clearly. For skin problems, rashes or wounds, good light is especially important – the doctor may ask you to bring the camera close to the affected area.
3. Write down your symptoms
Before the call, note:
- What the main problem is and when it started
- Whether it is getting better, worse or staying the same
- Fever readings, blood pressure or blood sugar values, if you measured them
- Anything that makes it better or worse (food, activity, time of day)
4. Keep your reports and prescriptions ready
Upload recent test reports, X-rays or old prescriptions to your TeleRx account before the call, or keep the papers next to you. Reports from the last 6–12 months are the most useful.
5. Make a list of your current medicines
Include tablets, syrups, inhalers, insulin, vitamins and herbal medicines, with the dose. Also tell the doctor about any drug allergy. This prevents harmful medicine interactions.
6. Prepare your questions
It is easy to forget questions during the call. Write down two or three, for example:
- What is the likely cause of my problem?
- Do I need any tests?
- How long should I take this medicine?
- Which warning signs mean I should go to a hospital?
- When should I follow up?
7. Useful tools to keep at home
A digital thermometer, a blood pressure monitor, a pulse oximeter and a glucometer (for people with diabetes) allow you to share accurate readings with your doctor during the consultation.
8. After the consultation
- Download your digital prescription from the dashboard.
- Follow the medicine schedule exactly as written.
- Book a follow-up if the doctor recommends one.
- If symptoms get suddenly worse, do not wait – contact a doctor again or go to the nearest hospital.
Frequently asked questions
What if my internet disconnects during the call?
Simply join again from your dashboard. TeleRx calls reconnect automatically when the network returns, and switch to audio if the video signal is weak.
Can a family member join the call?
Yes. A family member can sit with you and help explain the problem – this is very helpful for elderly patients and children.
